Spectrum K12 School Solution’s “Special Education Advocate Extraordinaire Award”

The Special Education Advocate Extraordinaire Award program was created in 2007 as a way for Spectrum K12 to recognize the efforts of non-traditional advocates of families and students involved in special education.

Award winners demonstrate an extra measure of commitment as teachers, researchers, community members, parents, public officials, administrators or friends of education who advocate in securing education for every child.

The award recognizes:

  • high level initiatives in special education that embody leadership and the far-reaching thought that is so vital to the success of our nation’s students.

  • heroes who have equipped others to lead and serve, both through their direct work with legislators and/or by nurturing practitioners to expand their special education skills and knowledge.

Ideally the winner has made a meaningful impact on the awareness and importance of special education through a commitment of time, personal involvement, and passion.

Nominations are accepted from the general public, and winners are selected by a committee of national experts and representatives from Spectrum K12. The committee specifically looks for nominees who have had a major hand in strengthening and advancing the field. The award winner will be honored on October 18, 2007 during the T&L Conference in Nashville. For more information about the awards program, visit www.spectrumk12.com or phone 410-616-0366.
