Assessment: The “Driving Force” of a Successful Student Achievement RTI Process

Session 1:

The Power of Assessment! Developing a Successful Response to Intervention Approach to Student Achievement

Nationwide, districts have begun implementing a data-based RTI problem solving approach to identifying and supporting struggling learners. A core feature of data collection focuses on reviewing current assessments within the district as well as designing a strong progress monitoring system to evaluate trends in district data as well as providing learning rates for individual students. This focus allows districts to continue to improve in the evaluation of instructional programming, assessments and progress monitoring trends at the individual student and district level.

This webinar will focus on the best practices and lessons learned in developing an RtI approach and provide an overview of the RTI assessment blueprint. In addition, the session will serve as a foundation for the next two “Driving Force” webinars.

Participants will gain knowledge in:

  • Utilizing data to develop a problem solving approach
  • Using universal screening and progress monitoring data to enhance instruction
  • The important keys to interpreting data
    • Universal Screeners
    • Diagnostic Assessments
    • Criterion Referenced Assessments
    • Curriculum Based Assessments
  • Review of discrete parts of a progress monitoring system

    • Baselines
    • Rate of Improvement
    • Aim line

  • Avoiding the common barriers in RtI implementation
