Spectrum K12 & CORE ECS presented their Schools of Distinction Sponsorship Award Package to the recipient schools at the Intel awards gala on Monday, September 8th in Washington DC. The Award package included:

Two days of Spectrum’s “Standards based Goals and Objectives” professional development training, a rich, collaborative, interactive training delivered by CORE ECS professional trainers, designed to support challenges districts face in personalizing learning for all children.

Aligning Student Focused IEP Goals to State Content Standards provides the skills and tools to analyze relevant data to establish a student’s baseline, develop a data based present level of academic achievement and functioning performance, develop individualized goals based on state standards, write goals that are instructionally easy to implement, select appropriate progress monitoring procedures, align student focused goals to the general education curriculum, utilize goal banks more effectively and ensure state and federal compliance.

B. Aligning Student Focused IEP Goals to State Content Standards

Participants will have an opportunity to apply best practices learned in the previous session to relevant situations in their classroom or district. Leaving with the ability to: develop state and federally compliant goals, objectives and benchmarks, establish and define the child’s present levels of performance collaboratively, state how the disability affects a child’s performance, determine present levels of educational performance using formal and informal data including data collected in the RTI process, write measurable student focused and standards based goals, develop measurable objectives that incrementally define achievement, write goals, objectives and benchmarks that can be instructionally implemented, collect data that accurately measure student performance and have an expanded set of skills to develop goals aligned to state standards.

The winning schools for Mathematics Excellence are Sojourner Elementary School,

Milwaukie, Oregon, Delay Middle School, Lewisville, Texas and Sabino High School

Tucson, AZ.

The winning schools for Science excellence are Laguna Elementary School, Scottsdale, Arizona, Key Peninsula Middle School, Lakebay, Washington and Townsend Harris High School, Flushing, New York.
