Park County School District #1 Selects Spectrum K12 School Solutions’ ENCORE!®

SIF Certified ENCORE!® Solution Will Share Data with Other District Systems to Reduce Administrative Burden and Improve Access to Student Information

TOWSON, Md. – Oct. 18, 2005 – Park County School District #1 in Powell, Wyo. has selected Spectrum K12 School Solutions Inc. (4GL) to provide a comprehensive, Web-based solution for managing its special education program. The district, which serves approximately 1,600 students across seven schools, will be the second in Wyoming to implement 4GL’s ENCORE!® suite of software and service solutions for special populations.

“We had another software system for special education management but it couldn’t do what we needed it to do. We were looking for a more efficient system that would create a more manageable process for handling all the IEP paperwork, while also tracking the data we need for reporting and other documentation,” said Luke Danforth, special education director for Park County School District #1. “We felt that ENCORE! presented the best option for us to meet those needs.”

Park County School District #1 will implement ENCORE! to automate and streamline data collection and management, and manage the individualized education plan (IEP) process for approximately 170 special education students. ENCORE! conforms to the School Interoperability Framework (SIF) Implementation Specification. This set of platform independent, vendor neutral rules and definitions enables software programs from different companies to share information.

“ENCORE!’s compliance with the SIF program and its ability to share data with other systems was very important to us,” said Danforth. “It will make it possible for our professionals to have secure access to the most current student data available, without having to shut down and transfer around to other systems. It will also allow our professionals to spend less time with the bureaucratic part of the IEP management process and more time working with students and providing the instruction they need.”

Designed specifically for the K-12 education market, ENCORE! helps school districts increase the effectiveness of their programs for special populations by automating time-consuming data collection and reporting processes, and reducing the paperwork burden. The comprehensive, Web-based software solution serves as a foundation for managing all phases of the IEP process for both general and special populations. As data is entered, compliance requirements are automatically verified, ensuring that paperwork is completed accurately and on time. As a result, educators can spend more time in the classroom, focusing on improving student learning and achievement.
