Spectrum K12 School Solutions Named Finalist For 2005 EdNET Hero Award

2005 Marks Second Consecutive Year 4GL Has Been Recognized by EdNET Industry Awards for Positive Impact on Education

TOWSON, Md. — August 30, 2005 — For the second consecutive year Spectrum K12 School Solutions Inc. (4GL), the leading provider of comprehensive management solutions for special populations in K-12 education, has been named one of three finalists for the EdNET HERO Award. The 13th annual EdNET HERO Award, which will be presented Sept. 13 at the 2005 EdNET Conference in San Diego, Calif., recognizes organizations that have made the most significant positive impact on education through educational technology and telecommunications.

4GL earned finalist consideration for its Web-based ENCORE!® suite of software and service solutions for special populations. ENCORE! helps school districts increase the effectiveness of their programs for special populations by automating time-consuming data collection and reporting processes, and reducing the paperwork burden. The comprehensive, Web-based software solution serves as a foundation for managing all phases of the individualized education plan (IEP) process for both general and special populations. As data is entered, compliance requirements are automatically verified, ensuring that paperwork is completed accurately and on time. As a result, educators can spend more time in the classroom, focusing on improving student learning and achievement.

“4GL is honored to be a finalist for this prestigious award two years in a row,” said Allison Duquette, president and chief operating officer of Spectrum K12 School Solutions. “In the past year, we’ve continued to lead the industry in special education data management solutions while also introducing several new solutions to help districts manage programs for all special populations, reduce unnecessary referrals to special education, and analyze data to assess program effectiveness and identify best practices and key trends. It’s quite a validation to have the EdNET industry awards’ panel of education market experts recognize our accomplishments and commitment.”
