Farmington Municipal School District Chooses ENCORE! to Manage Special Education Program

District is First in New Mexico to Implement ENCORE! Suite of Software and Service Solutions for Special Populations

TOWSON, Md. – March 15, 2006 – Farmington Municipal School District in Farmington, New Mexico will transform how it manages its special education program when it replaces its paper-based system with a comprehensive, Web-based solution. The district will be the first in New Mexico to implement the ENCORE!® suite of software and service solutions for special populations from Spectrum K12 School Solutions Inc. (Spectrum K12), the leading provider of comprehensive management solutions for special populations in K-12 education.

ENCORE! will help the district reduce the amount of time teachers spend on paperwork, manage individualized educations plans (IEPs) and automate and streamline data collection and management. Additionally, the Web-based system will ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.

“It takes a tremendous amount of time to do all the paperwork required for special education and individualized education plans,” said Sandi Sandrick, director of special education for Farmington Municipal School District. “With our paper-based system, there were no compliance checks so it was easy to accidentally skip a page or leave an area blank. If you leave something blank that shouldn’t be, the system lets you know and won’t let you finalize the document until all of the required pieces are complete. Our goal is that this will help improve compliance with state and federal regulations, and help teachers reduce the amount of time they spend on paperwork and meetings so they can spend more time in the classroom with students.”
