Succeeds Clark E. Easter, Who Has Served as Chairman Since Company’s Founding
Towson, Md. – Aug 3, 2006 – Spectrum K12 School Solutions Inc., the leading provider of comprehensive management solutions for special populations in K-12 education, today announced the appointment of Lou Pugliese as chairman of its board of directors. Pugliese succeeds Clark E. Easter, who has served as chairman since the company’s founding in 1996 and will remain on the board.
Pugliese is president of Learning Diagnostics Inc. (LDI), an education holding company and consulting organization that provides assistance to Fortune 500 organizations involved in global e-learning initiatives. Prior to LDI, he held several senior executive positions including CEO of Blackboard Inc., a leading provider of enterprise software and services to the education industry; Educational Testing Services; Scholastic Inc.; and Turner Education Services. Pugliese also served as an Entrepreneur In Residence at Novak Biddle Venture Partners.
Pugliese serves on numerous local and regional boards in education and software related businesses. He also served on George W. Bush’s Presidential IT Steering Committee and the Commission on Technology and Adult Learning.
According to Allison Duquette, president and CEO of Spectrum K12 School Solutions, recent changes in student demographics and other trends have coalesced to put huge pressures on K-12 districts to track and provide services to a rapidly increasing number of students, both in and outside of special education programs. "This convergence means expanding markets and applications for Spectrum K-12’s solutions," said Duquette. "Lou Pugliese brings an incredible breadth and depth of experience in all levels of the education technology market. We’re very excited about the contributions he will make toward our continuing growth."
