Appoints Scott Cary, Vice President of Marketing; Don Fabricant, Executive Vice President of Sales; and James Hermens, Vice President of Product Management
TOWSON, MD– January 9, 2007 – Spectrum K12 School Solutions Inc., a special education software company helping school districts more effectively manage the individualized learning process for all students receiving special services or interventions, today announced the addition of three new executives to its team. The new executives are Scott Cary, vice president of marketing; Don Fabricant, executive vice president of sales; and James Hermens, vice president of product management.
“Spectrum K12 has become the standard by which other special education software products are judged,” said Lou Pugliese, Spectrum K12 chairman of the board. “Scott, Don and Jim bring to our team and our customers years of hard-won accomplishments in marketing, sales and product management. We’re excited to welcome them aboard.”
Cary has more than 20 years of experience in product management and marketing in the technology industry, and has led more than 50 product launches. Prior to joining Spectrum K12, he founded the Product Management Institute where, for 10 years, he helped organizations transform product management into product performance. He also led marketing organizations at Legent, Best Software and British Telecom. Scott holds a B.S. in systems engineering with a concentration in management information systems from the University of Virginia.
Fabricant leads the national sales team in selling the full suite of products including ENCORE® and professional development training. Prior to joining Spectrum K12, he was senior vice president of sales for Thomson Learning’s career and professional group division. He was responsible for sales strategy and results across all education markets. Fabricant received his bachelor’s degree from Tufts University, and is a cum laude graduate of the Babson Graduate School of Business where he received his M.B.A. degree.
Hermens leads product management of the complete product line including the innovative ENCORE® product suite. Prior to joining Spectrum K12, he served as senior vice president of global services at Blackboard Inc., a leading provider of e-Education enterprise software applications and services. Prior to Blackboard, Hermens served as a managing director with Hollinger Digital and with Laureate Education (formerly Sylvan Learning Systems) as vice president of operations for Laureate International Universities, implementing emerging educational and business strategies among the company’s initial university network of institutions in Latin America and Europe. Hermens earned a B.S. with honors from Princeton University and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School.
