30-year education technology veteran including Apple and Oracle
TOWSON, MD– March 15, 2007 – Spectrum K12 School Solutions Inc. today announced that it has named Jim Marshall CEO of the company. Marshall brings more than 30 years of enterprise-focused experience helping to lead high technology companies such as Apple and Oracle to profitability and market growth.
Spectrum K12 provides the industry’s benchmark special education software. Its ENCORE!® suite of products serves districts with enrollments of 250 through those exceeding 250,000 students. Designed expressly for the K-12 education market, its powerful benefits and ease of use help school districts more effectively manage the individualized education process (IEP) for students receiving special services or intervention.
Before joining Spectrum K12, Marshall was CEO of Agentis Software where he led the company through venture funding, a management buyout while driving several large new sales transactions. Prior to Agentis, Marshall was vice president of named accounts at FileNet where he created, deployed and managed a mid-market plan and unit for the corporation. Prior to that assignment, Marshall was vice president of Apple’s US Education Division, leading the overall education effort at Apple. This unit of Apple accounted for approximately 25% of the company’s annual revenues.
Marshall has also held executive positions at Informix, NeoMedia Technologies, Tandem Computers and Unisys. He has extensive experience in helping technology companies build and develop accomplished management, sales, marketing, professional services and channels teams.

Marshall has received public recognition from the Governors of Michigan, Maine and Florida for his work in those states. He has been an active member of the Cobb County (Georgia) Education Foundation, where he has worked to help raise funds and drive awareness programs for the counties school system and has been recognized by the state school system of Georgia for his contributions. He was also a Director for the Florida Council on Economic Education that is charted with teaching fundamental finance and business concepts to high school students.
He holds a B.A., Management and General Sciences from the University of South Florida.
