HOUSTON AREA ACADEMY: OCTOBER 4TH 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CDT

Academy Objectives:

 



  • To provide a forum for learning, planning, and improving district RTI implementation 

  • To support the development of a “Data Actionable” district RTI implementation plan

  • To create a support network for participants in the area of RTI process implementation

 

Who Should Attend? 

The Academy is invitation only for districts currently implementing RTI. Each invited district is encouraged to send a core RTI strategic team composed of 3 to 4 members comprised of:

 



  • District RTI lead administrators (Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent C&I, Technology/SPED/RTI/ ELL/GT/Title I Directors)

  • District RTI strategic team members (curriculum & behavior specialists, building administrators, special education specialists, reading specialists, and/or related service providers

 

Academy Focus:

The Academy will focus on RTI best practices in: building infrastructure, capacity and implementation through data utilization, program planning, collaborative teaming, progress monitoring and program evaluation of an RTI district model.

The majority of the academy will be comprised of small group breakout sessions facilitated by education experts with RTI implementation experience. This institute will not be a sit-and-get institute. Participants will be expected to actively participate in discussions and share experiences and ideas.


 

Academy Format: 

 



  • One Day Hands on Training 

  • Follow up 1 ½ Hour Q&A Webinar-3 weeks after the training

  • Ongoing Blog Discussion with Participants

 

Teams will leave the Academy with:

 



  • Increased understanding of RTI implementation

  • District “Action Plan” & Benchmark Success Objectives

  • Additional resources and new ideas

  • Contacts with other educators implementing RTI

  • 10:30- 11:50 Small Group Breakout Sessions

    • Data Driven RTI: A Proactive Approach to Creating Effective RTI Problem Solving Teams Focused on Data Driven Instruction

    • Connecting the Data to Support Sound Instructional Decisions for Kids!



  • 12:00- 1:20 Lunch & Spectrum K12 School Solutions Sponsor Session-EXCEED™ SAM

  • 1:30-2:00 Team “Action Plan” Discussion- Facilitated Session

  • 2:10- 3:20 Small Group Breakout Sessions (repeated a.m. sessions)

  • 3:30- 4:00 Team “Action Plan” Discussions- Facilitated Session

  • 4:00- 4:30 Wrap Up and Next Steps Planning

Small Group Sessions- will focus on practical application to implementing a district RTI initiative. Session will include RTI topic presentation, tools to support district implementation and an open discussion of the RTI topic. Presenters include: Dr. Andrea Ogonosky- National RTI Author and Education Consultant, Gerry Stefhon- National RTI Strategist & Machele Stefhon- Educational RTI Strategist

1 ½ Hour Q&A Webinar- 3 weeks after training

Webinar session will be designed to meet the needs of the Academy participants as an effort to support progression of district RTI “Action Plans” and an Academy Alumni Blog will be established.
