Creating a Targeted Grant Application

Designed for K-12 school districts that have decided to apply for a specific grant, the Targeted Grant Application service incorporates Dr. Douglas Brooks, the developer of the unique GrantSuccess(SM) grant writing system, as a key member and facilitator of the grant writing team.  Dr. Brooks will help you successfully apply for the grant you want.  He becomes a live/online member of your grant writing team acting as a facilitator, contributor and editor and guides the grant writing team through the GrantSuccess system to create the grant application.

The key services provided by Dr. Brooks during the grant development process include:



  • Review the Request for Funding Proposal that your district has selected.

  • Work with your district grant writing team to create a Grant Application Package, including a specific "Grant Writing Guide" for your application.

  • Ongoing access to your district as the grant is being developed to help edit the application.

  • Review of your grant application for final text review and editing before you submit.

Training a District Wide Grant Writing Team

Designed for K-12 school districts that want to implement a best practices approach to grant writing to enhance the success rate on all grant applications, the Grant Writing Team service provides comprehensive training in the GrantSuccess system. The course provides a best practices grant writing process, tools* and expertise and is taught by Dr. Douglas Brooks, creator of the GrantSuccess grant writing system.

Grant Writing Train the Trainer consists of 4 parts centered around successful best practices grant submissions:


1.  Review and discuss a successfully awarded grant submission.

2.  Construct a three document package for a sample Request for Funding Proposal.  


  • Grant Action Summary – when its due, who to call, etc.

  • Grant Writing Guide – cues given on where to add text

  • Key Vocabulary – to mimic language in the RFP

3.  Write the grant application for the sample Request for Funding Proposal

4.  Review and edit the grant application – look at final draft document and learn how to make editorial changes and learn about Dr. Brooks’ review process.

Grant Application Review

Designed for districts that are in the final stages of writing a grant proposal and want a quick review of the grant application by a renowned grant writing expert, the Grant Application Review service provides evaluation and editing of a grant application prior to grant application submission. Dr. Brooks reviews the selected Request for Funding Proposal and applies best practices techniques and his collective experience to improve the grant application to optimize the chances for successful award.
